The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in their Pastoral Plan on Catechesis has stated that the Parish must be the principle spiritual “learning” environment for the faith community where the faithful of all ages can explore, practice and share their faith experiences. Christianity through the centuries grew by one baptism at a time “always in a spirit-filled community”. The faith formation program at St. Matthias is dependent on a large number of lay volunteers who are willing to share their faith, understanding and experiences with fellow parishioners, children and adults alike.
